Dekáf Expands Its Low-Caffeine Collection with Even Odds and Small Talk

Dekáf Coffee Roasters has introduced Even Odds and Small Talk, two new blends that expand its low-caffeine collection from two coffees to four. Developed in response to customer requests for more choice, the additions bring new origins and roast profiles to the collection: a medium-dark half-caf featuring Vietnamese Arabica and a light-medium quarter-caf featuring Kenyan peaberry.

The new coffees join Split Pulse and Silent Storm Espresso, giving customers a broader range of flavors within the brand’s half-caffeinated and quarter-caffeinated offerings. Each blend brings together caffeinated and decaffeinated coffees selected for how their individual characteristics contribute to the finished cup.

The two additions offer distinct interpretations:

  • Even Odds — Half-Caffeinated, Medium-Dark: Equal parts caffeinated Vietnam Dung K’No Arabica and Swiss Water® decaffeinated Guatemala Finca Santa Isabel. Notes of malt biscuit, medjool date, and orange marmalade give the blend a warm, generous character, with citrus brightness running through its deeper sweetness.

  • Small Talk — Quarter-Caffeinated, Light-Medium: Caffeinated Kenya Githiga peaberry meets Swiss Water® decaffeinated Ethiopia Sidamo Bombe and Colombia Papayo. The Kenyan coffee makes up one quarter of the blend, with its decaffeinated companions completing the remaining three quarters. Notes of green apple, lemonade, and strawberry cake create a lively, fruit-forward cup.

Even Odds introduces customers to Arabica grown in Vietnam’s Lam Dong highlands. In the Dung K’No community, smallholder farmers cultivate coffee at elevations of 1,100–1,400 meters alongside crops such as persimmon, jackfruit, and avocado. Paired with the sweetness and citrus character of Guatemala Finca Santa Isabel, the coffee gives the blend its own identity within Dekáf’s half-caf offerings.

Small Talk brings together three highland origins around Kenya Githiga, grown at approximately 1,700 meters. Its peaberries are rounded beans that develop when a coffee cherry forms a single seed instead of the usual pair. Ethiopia Sidamo Bombe and Colombia Papayo contribute complementary fruit character and sweetness, with a light-medium roast keeping the blend’s brighter qualities in focus.

The expansion reflects a straightforward request from Dekáf customers: more variety in the coffees they already enjoy with less caffeine. With two half-caf and two quarter-caf blends, the collection now offers more room to explore different origins, roast levels, and flavor preferences.

Even Odds and Small Talk are available in 12-ounce, one-pound, and five-pound bags, as whole bean or custom ground coffee.
